Gerald "Jerry" G. Weizenecker, 89, of Alliance passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Bel Air. Gerald was born in Patmos, Ohio on August 30, 1928 to the late Fred and Lucy E. (Owen) Weizenecker. Gerald was a veteran enlisted in the United States Army serving in Korea. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6730, Eagles of Minerva and AMVETS of Salem. Gerald worked as a grocer, a meat cutter and was co-owner of Jim and Jerry's IGA Market of Alliance. He was an avid coon hunter, fisherman and raised and raced pigeons.
Gerald is survived by a son Gary (Amy) Weizenecker of Alliance, OH, daughters Gloria (Mike) Vargovic, Cindy (Art) Muniz of Alliance, OH, Cheryle (Gary) Bailey of Paris, OH, and Sharon (Jason) Hoyt of Homeworth, OH; a brother James (Dottie) Weizenecker; sisters Delora Anthony, Connie Wilhite, and Sally Barnes. Gerald is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Elaine (Stowe) who passed July 31, 1985 and a sister Carol Weizenecker.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral home at 10:00 AM with Pastor Allen Kahler officiating. Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Salem AMVETS. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, Ohio.
