Gerladine Hickman

Geraldine V. Hickman, 76 of Alliance passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Hickman was born in Hacker Valley, West Virginia on August 30, 1933 the daughter of the late Jim and Tiny Bell (Bender) Cogar. Geraldine worked as a nurse for 25 years at the former Sun Valley Nursing Home in Alliance; she enjoyed reading, playing bingo, going to Mountaineer Park and watching soaps. Survivors include her husband Archie Hickman whom she married on July 5, 1957, two daughters; Helen Sloat and Norma Hickman of Alliance, three sons Lance Cogar of Canton, Archie R. Hickman and Richard Hickman both of Alliance. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren a sister Rosey Nell of Millcreek, WV and two brothers; Orin Cogar of Webster Springs, WV and Dana Paul Cogar of Jamestown, NY.and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Madelline Cogar, two brothers; Lemon and Glen Cogar a grandson Allen Sloat and a great grandson Martez Nicholson. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. James Case officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM.
