Gilbert “Gil” Conway, 74 passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Alliance. He was born in Alliance on June 8, 1939 the son of the late Charles and Matilda (Swan) Conway; he was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Sandy Valley, PA in 1958 and retired in 2005 from at Stark Metal Sales. Gil liked hunting, fishing and cars but his most enjoyment came from spending time with his family especially picking on his grandchildren whom he had his own nicknames for.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ellen (Graham) Conway whom he married on April 11, 1964 of Alliance, three children; Mark Owen (Diana) Conway of Alliance, Shelley Masters of Sebring, Terri Conway of Alliance and 7 grandchildren; Taylor “Sweet Cheeks” Conway, Bass “Dooder” Conway, Annie “Peaches” Conway, Megan “Mookie” Masters, Derek “Bubba” Masters, Emilia “BooBoo” Conway and Nicklas “Chunk” Conway. He is also survived by a brother David Conway of Joliet, Illinois, and two sisters Carol McCloud of Sanger, Texas and Velda Warner of Las Vegas, NV. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father Wendell Sims and step mother Josephine Conway.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home in Sebring; with Aaron Phillips officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Memorial contributions can be made in Gil’s honor to the Leukemia Foundation Northern Ohio Chapter 5700 Brecksville Road, Independence, OH 44131.
