Helen Margaret Abmyer, 94, of Alliance passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at her home. Helen was born in Alliance, on February 17, 1920, the daughter of the late George and Helen (Crowl) Wilson. Helen was a graduate of Sebring High School and was self-employed as a beautician for many years, was manager of Copeland Oaks Beauty Parlor for 18 years and a member of the Business and Professional Women Organization. She was a member of Sebring Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Pathfinder’s Class and a faithful contributing member of the Lydia Circle. Helen enjoyed crosswords, baking, was a member of the Red Hat Society, a member of the birthday bunch and loved socializing with her friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy (John) Campbell of Beloit and Kathy (Dennis) Myers of Alliance; seven grandchildren Shane (Lorrie) Simmons, Kerri (Brian) Nestor, Ben (Natalie) Myers, Ali Myers, Rachel (Rick) O’Donnell, Matthew (Andrea) Campbell, Evan (Emilee) Campbell and ten great-grandchildren Nick, Mike, Riley, Reed, Emma, Hailey, Adelyn, Ava, Carter and Jack. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Abmyer on September 25, 1987, son Gary in 1978, grandson Adam D. Campbell on September 26, 1987, brother George Wilson and sister Kathryn Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on February 5, 2015 at Sebring Presbyterian Church with Rev. Marty Radcliff officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home and the hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will take place in Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s honor to Sebring Presbyterian Church 526 North 16th Street, Sebring, OH 44672. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
