Helen A. Gobely, 82, of Beloit passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her home. Helen was born on December 13, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Nina (Duncan) Steves. She was a mother, farm wife and owned Gobelyâs Green Gables for 24 years. Helen was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ, where she was also a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang, she was a Cleveland Indians Fan, attended Widows and Friends and Knox Township senior citizen luncheons. She loved being with her family and listening to country music. Survivors include her children Ronald (Diana) Gobely of Hanoverton, Danny (Suzi) Gobely of Temple, Georgia, George (Tami) Gobely of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Debra Gobely of Beloit, and Randall (Laura) Gobely of Beloit; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by a brother Elmer (Velma) Steves and a sister Mary (Chappy) Woolf. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth W. Gobely, two sisters, Isabelle Fankhauser, and Annabelle Bichsel and three brothers Lester, Charles and George Steves. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Church of Christ with Rev. Haan A. Phelps and Rev. Jerry Kruse officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday August 9, 2012 from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Beloit. The family would like to give a special thank you to SouthernCare Hospice staff for all of their kindness.
