Helen Irene (Hoyle) Weir, age 86, of Alliance, formerly of North Benton and Berlin Center passed away on Monday March 17, 2008 at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. She was born June 8, 1921 in North Benton, Ohio to Earl Chauncey & Ella Gertrude (Hartzell) Hoyle. Helen was a mail carrier for 27 years at the North Benton Post Office and retired in 1986 as Post Master in Berlin Center. She graduated from Sebring High School Class of ‘1939. She was a member of NAPUS & NARFE and a past Worthy Matron of the Sebring Eastern Star Chapter. Helen was a very active life member of the North Benton Presbyterian Church; a past Girl Scout leader. a member of the Berlin Center Historical Society and National Model Railroad Association. She is survived by her daughter Elaine”Lainie” Hetrick of Sebring and grandson Nathaniel Fergason of Columbus, Ohio; 10 nieces & nephews and several great nieces and nephews and special neighbors Carley, Luke and Dar. Mrs. Weir was preceded in death by her husband Erwin “Ed” Weir on April 19,1986 and infant son Erwin Jr. also brother Merle F. Hoyle and sisters Vallaise Bullis and Ruth Phillips. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 22nd at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Henkel officiating. Interment will be at Hartzell Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8p.m.on Friday and one hour prior to the service. An eastern Star Service will be at 5:30pm Friday at the funeral home.
