Howard Hickman

Howard M. Hickman, 86, of Guilford Lake went home to be with the Lord at 7:34 PM Saturday at Salem Community Hospital after a long illness. Howard was a native of Caldwell, Ohio. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa to his family. Mr. Hickman worked at Alliance Manufacturing fro 10 years, Wrights Tool and Forge in Barberton for 5 years and he owned a Dairy Farm in Kensington retiring after 25 years. Howard was also a member of Tri County Church of God in Salem. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, fishing, working and spending time with his family. Howard is survived by his wife Garnet Eileen (Hupp) of the home at Guilford Lake, 2 sons; Howard Melvin Hickman Jr. and Rick D. (Joanna) Hickman both of Guilford Lake, 3 daughters Mrs. Marilyn (Donald) Reynolds of Salineville, Mrs. Dianna Jill (Larry) Levine of Guilford Lake and Brenda E. Bandy of Guilford Lake, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Dewey Hickman Jr. of Minerva, Archie Hickman of Alliance and 3 sisters Lorna Graham of Zanesville, Dorothy Eberling of Sebring and Anna Mae Hartman of Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Mae (Wickham) Hickman, and 2 sisters Opal Brown and Margaret Sines. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 12:30 PM with Rev. Francis Burkhart officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
