Iona "Charm" Buffington

Iona “Charm” Buffington, age 86, of Damascus passed away Monday Oct. 29, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born in Millersburg, PA on Feb. 16, 1921 to the late Guy and Ehrma (Wolfe) Buffington Wharton. Ms. Buffington was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ and a graduate of Alliance High School, class of ’40 she was also a member of AARP. She retired from Alliance Manufacturing (Genie Co.) after 40 plus years of employment. Charm is survived by; her sister Cressie (Don) Hoopes of Damascus, sister in law Joyce Wharton of Ponce Inlet, FL and several nieces and nephews; Mark (Cathy) Hoopes of Salem, Monte (Kathy) Hoopes of Uniontown, Marsha (Rex) Johnson of Ft. Myers, FL, Diane (George) Barnar of Sumter, SC, Laura Lee (Mike) Sanor of Lisbon, Steven Wharton, Michelle Wharton and Jennie Wheryll all of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her; parents, step father William H. Wharton, sisters Janet Wharton Maize, and Patricia Buffington and brothers Guy B. Buffington, William H. Wharton Jr. and Elliot E. Wharton. Funeral Services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday Nov. 3, 2007. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM.
