Jack Richard Peterson, 85 of Sebring passed away on Monday June 1, 2015 at his home.  Jack was born in Irwin, Tennessee on May 13, 1930, the son of the late William N. & Mary Edith (Cash) Peterson.  He worked in appliance sales and repair for Grove Appliance for over 50 years and known by many as the original Maytag Man; he attended Sebring Friends Church and was a member of the Beloit Historical Society.  Mr. Peterson was a former member of the Sebring Lions Club, Beloit Ruritans, served as a Beloit Councilman, Beloit Public Affairs and was a Beloit fireman.  Jack enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Betty J. (Handy) whom he married on June 15, 1951; two sons, David R. (Linda) Peterson of Damascus, Daniel P. (Michele) Peterson of Beloit; three daughters, Deborah (John) Kale of Berlin Center, Elizabeth Eckley of Sebring, Jacqueline (Tom) Doyle of Orrville; fifteen grandchildren Randy Carpenter, Jennifer Webster, Michael (Theresa) Seruch, Carrie (Tim) Foran, Stefani (Brian) Waseman, Joseph Kale, Tiffany Seruch, Teresa (Mark) Spoonholtz, Matthew (Beth) Doyle, Beth (Kevin) McBride, Steven Doyle, Gina (Gary) Premier, Danyel Peterson, T.J. (Courtney) Doyle and Brenda (Steve) Powell; eighteen great-grandchildren, Kayla Leeson, Anna Webster, Lauren Webster, Dante Seruch, Donovan Seruch, Timmy Foran, Kristin Foran, Sydney Powell, Andrew Powell, Madilynn Doyle, Adam Brown, Nathan Doyle, Warren Doyle, Ryleigh Spoonholtz, Madison Spoonholtz, Tyler Spoonholtz,  Dayna Blake, Evan Blake and four great great grandchildren.  He is also survived by a brother Robert E. Peterson and a sister Irene Shields.   Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister Kathleen Silliman, two brothers Gerald Peterson, John “Jay” Peterson, a son-in-law Skip Eckley and a great-granddaughter Emily Waseman.

A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home with Lynn Moore and Pastor Quint Bryan officiating.  Friends may call on Wednesday, from 6-8PM and the hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.  Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s honor to Alliance Hospice, 2461 W. State St, Suite E., Alliance, OH 44601. The family would like to thank Dr. Duane Kuentz and Alliance Hospice for their care and compassion.
