Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 11, 2008 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home, Sebring, for James Richard Herren, 87, of Youngstown, formerly of Canfield and North Benton, who died Nov. 7 in St Elizabeth Medical Center after complications after a fall at home. Mr. Herren was born March 19, 1921, in Alliance, a son of John and Jennie (Bühler) Herren. He attended Bricktown School and was a graduate of Sebring High School. He also attended Mount Union College in Alliance and Ohio State University. He was a dairy farmer until 1968 and then raised Herefords. He worked for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for 15 years and was a member of Public Employee Retirees Inc. 18 of Mahoning County He was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of the Sebring United Methodist Church and the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Alliance. He was a member of Stark County Milk Producers and showed Holsteins at the Canfield Fair for many years with the Holstein Association. His wife, the former Lillian Bernice Haught, whom he married Oct. 15, 1945 died April 2, 2008 He leaves two daughters, Janice (Larry) Wheeler of Williamsburg, Va. and Linda (Kenneth) Hartzell, with whom he made his home; a sister, Joyce E. (Herbert) Gorby of North Benton; five grandchildren, Diana (Chris) Fuschillo of Struthers, Denise (Cecil) Wiggins of Wilmer, Ala., Karl (Jen Smith) of Youngstown, Teri (Chris) Manchen of Solon and Andrea Wheeler of Williamsburg; 10 great-grandchildren, Shannon Wiggins of Florida; Joseph, Kelly Allison and Victoria Wiggins of Ala., Chris, Laura, Kaitlin and Jacob Fuschillo of Struthers, Morgan Smith of Youngstown; one great-great-granddaughter, Jadyn Blackburn of Florida; three nieces, Debbie (Mike) Sillett and Joann (Wayne) Richards, all of Cleveland, Jill (Jim) Weir of South Carolina; a nephew, Dr. Gary (Kathy) Gorby of Omaha, Neb.and several great-nieces and great- nephews. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service with Rev. William Wolfgang officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donorâs choice.
