James Martin

James F. Martin, 85 of Alliance passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Another Way, Alternative Housing in Beloit. Mr. Martin was born in Paden City, West Virginia on July 22, 1927 the son of the late Orval J. and Iva E. (Mikes) Martin. James was a US Army and Navy Veteran serving during WWII and Korea. He was employed as a Fitter at Alliance Machine before his retirement. He was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and loved the outdoors gardening, cutting wood, reading, spending time on his tractor, keeping company with his dogs especially Angel, but mostly he enjoyed being able to spend time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Betty L. (Eagan) whom he married on June 30, 1950 of Alliance, three sons; Mike Martin of Alliance, Mark (Tina) Martin of Beloit, Jimmy (Darleen) Martin of Alliance, three daughters; Patty (John) Ruehle of Sebring, Sherry (Jim) Stoffer of Beloit, Christy (Tim) Harder of Homeworth, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters Leona VanCamp, Margaret Savage and Myrtle Carroll. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Virgil, a ½ brother Billy and a great granddaughter Kiersten Bernier. Family and friends will be received on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM at The Alliance Baptist Temple 1441 West Vine Street, Alliance, OH. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Church. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to The Alliance Baptist Temple 1441 W. Vine St. Alliance, OH 44601.
