ALLIANCE — A memorial service will be held for James “Jim” McAbier, 79, formerly of Georgetown Road, Salem, who passed away on January 8, 2019 at Canterbury Villa in Alliance. Jim was born in Amsterdam, Ohio on October 11, 1939, the son of John L. and Bertha I. (Humphries) McAbier. He was a 1957 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School and a US Army veteran. He retired from T and W Forge, Inc. in 2003 after 42 years of service and enjoyed training dogs and hunting, especially coon hunting. He attended Sebring Presbyterian Church.
Jim is survived by his wife Margaret (LeFevre) McAbier of Castle Rock, Colorado, son Donald J. and Leslie McAbier of Scottsdale, Arizona, daughter Lynn A. and Chad Cobb and granddaughter Kaci Lynn Cobb of West Chester, Pennsylvania, brother Joseph and Regina McAbier of Naples, Florida, sister-in-law Rosalee McAbier of Marco Island, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John “Jack” McAbier and sister Roberta Russell Rohaley.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, 126 W. Vermont Ave., Sebring, Ohio with Pastor Martin Radcliff officiating. Following the service, a luncheon and time for visiting will follow at Heritage Oaks Banquet Center, 230 S. 12th Street, Sebring.
