James W. McElroy, 84, of Sebring, passed away at his home on Monday, October 29, 2012. James was born in Cambridge, Ohio on October 28, 1928 the son of the late Edward and Naomi J. (Lent) McElroy. He moved to Sebring in 1941, and was a newspaper carrier and worked at Royal China. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. He was honorably discharged in 1948; and became the owner operator of Green Acres Fruit Farm in Beloit, he later retired from the Ford Motor Company (Canton Plant) in January of 1980 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed many years of vacationing in the Florida Keys and became very involved in the local happening there. Mr. McElroy was a member of the VFW Post 6730 in Sebring, Ohio, Past Quarter Master, Chaplain and Trustee; a member of the Salem, Ohio AMVETS and the Sebring American Legion. Survivors include his wife Judith (Debolt) McElroy whom he married on March 11, 2010 of Sebring, two daughters; Sharon of Salem, OH, Judy of Florida, seven grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Irene, a daughter Cindy and his brother. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 1:00pm at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with rev. Mike Kimball officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am till the time of the service. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit with Military Honors provided by the Sebring Honor Guard.
