James R. McNeillie Sr., 96, of Sebring, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Crandall Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1914, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was a longtime resident of Lakeside, Ohio, and Copeland Oaks, Sebring, Ohio. James was an active member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Freemasons, Shriners, and Knights Templar, and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie E. McNeillie; son, James R. McNeillie, Jr. of Houston,Texas; daughters Nancy V. McNeillie of Baltimore, Maryland, and Mary R. McNeillie of Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandson, Richard A. McNeillie of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Virginia (Shipley) McNeillie; sisters, Virginia H. McNeillie and Jeanette M. Hazlett; and brother Harry W. McNeillie. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, at Copeland Oaks, Bennett Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks. Funeral arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home in Sebring.
