Janet E. Oswalt, 94, passed into eternity on April 3rd, 2020, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio. She has lived at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community for the past 20 years. She was born Dec 2, 1925, to Merle and Gertrude Shreve in Salem, Ohio. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Donald E Oswalt whom she married in Damascus, Ohio, on Sept. 6, 1946.

Janet is a birthright member of Damascus Friends Church. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1945. She worked for 10 years for the American Cancer Society and was active in the Alliance Christian Women’s Club. She loved the Lord, her family and her church in that order. She loved being a wife and mother and homemaker. One of her great joys down through the years was sending greeting cards and writing notes of encouragement. It was always her desire to be God’s light to others.

She has a brother Donald Shreve of Advance, North Carolina, and is predeceased by her sister Charlotte Jeffries. Janet has two children—daughter Diane (Abraham) Bible of the Ukraine and son Gerald (Valetta) Oswalt of Rydal, Georgia. She also has 10 grandchildren— Sarah (William) McVaugh, Priscilla (Daniel) Gollan, Samuel (Melissa) Bible, Esther (Ken) Eskildson, Matthew (Anya) Bible, Jeremy [deceased 2010] (Elizabeth) Oswalt, Kassie (Chuck) Socks, Nathan (Ira) Oswalt, Bethany (Jeremy) Kempf, and Andrea (Stephen) Dunseith. She is also the proud great-grandmother of 28 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, at 1:00pm at the Damascus Cemetery with Pastor Rick Brendlinger of the Damascus Friends Church, for those unable to attend you may watch the live stream of the service at the funeral homes website at 1:00 PM by clicking on Janet's photo and following the services link. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you give a donation to Damascus Friends Church, or to a mission organization of your choice. Friends and family may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
