Jean Marie Kiser Smith, age 77, of Beloit, passed away at 1:00 AM Monday, December 11, 2006 at Altercare of Alliance. She was born December 24, 1928 in Elmira, New York, to the late Daniel J. and Ruth (Morseman) Kiser. Jean was an active member of the North Benton Presbyterian church, where she served as a deacon, she was also active in the Presbyterian Women’s Assoc. and served as their treasurer, and a member of the Alliance Senior Center. Jean was a 1952 graduate of St. Lukes School of Nursing in Cleveland, and a 1953 graduate of Mount. Union College. She was an R.N. and a Supervisor for the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Assoc.. Jean retired in February of 2006. She is survived by her husband Roger T. Smith whom she married August 16, 1952; Son Dr. David K. (Jacquelyn) Smith of Hanoverton; daughter Carolyn (Lee) Herren Gabric of Alliance; son Douglas R. Smith of Northern Ireland; son Daniel J. (Stephanie) Smith of Ypsilanti, MI; daughter Suzanne M.(Douglas) Drew of Munith, MI; Sister Phyllis Hickman of Trumansburg, NY and brothers Gary Kiser and Frank Kiser both of NY; nine grandchildren Thomas Herren, Colleen Herren, Kyle Smith, Kevin Smith; Rachel Smith, James Smith ,Hannah Smith, Sarah Drew and Peter Drew Jean was preceded in death by her parents ; two sisters Dorothy Ketchum and Linda Freeman and two brothers Douglas and Daniel Kiser. Private graveside services will be held Friday at Hartzell Cemetery A Memorial service will be held at the North Benton Presbyterian Church at 7:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2006 with Rev. James Henkel and Rev. David Bickett officiating. Family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s research Hospital; P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101, or to the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Assoc.,885 S. Sawburg Rd.
