John Blasiman

John A. Blasiman, 80, of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, passed away on March 25, 2013 at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1933 in Louisville, Ohio the son of the late John G. and Martha (Wagmiller) Blasiman. He was a 1951 graduate of Goshen Union High School and lived most of his life in Damascus, Ohio. John was a dairy farmer, employed for 25 years with Glen Shreve Farms. In 1977, he became a custodian in West Branch Schools for 23 years, until his retirement. John was a member of Damascus United Methodist church for the past 59 years where he was a trustee and served as a custodian and faithfully attended Bible Study and Friendship Sunday School. He was a current member of Damascus Ruritans for 24 years, also a past member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau, a volunteer for the Red Cross, church pre-school aide, and helped out at the Copeland Oaks Thrift Shop. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marylee (Cameron) Blasiman, sons Dave (Jan) Blasiman of Salem, Bruce (Lynette) Blasiman of Alliance, a daughter Lorraine (Chuck) Moser of Beloit and a sister Alice Ryter of Louisville. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Aaron Moser of Beloit, Andrea (Nick) Evanich of Paris, Joe (Sonya) Stanley of Upper Arlington, Andrea (Bill) Neill of Carthage, New York, Amy (Toby) Lane of Beloit, and Mandy (Jon) Huber of Clayton, North Carolina and his great grandchildren; Connor, Chelsea, Cameron and Chloe Evanich, Madelyn, Jacob, Cassidy and Bailey Neill, Camden and Sydney Lane and Wesley Huber. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister Clara Blasiman. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, particularly the Indians. He enjoyed following West Branch athletics, Marlington basketball and his son Bruce’s wrestling teams. He enjoyed following and watching his grandchildren in their sporting events and school activities; especially his grandson Aaron’s engineering coursework at the University of Akron. He also loved to garden which included a cut flower to his loving wife daily. John was a very gracious and caring person who enjoyed meeting and making new friends. The most important things in John’s life were family, faith, and friends as he left an impression on many people. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday March 29, 2013 at Damascus Methodist Church. Friends may call on Thursday March 28, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM and also the hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will take place in Damascus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Damascus United Methodist Church Summer Mission Trip Fund 300 Valley Rd.
