John Bower

John Bower, a dedicated individual with a passion for service and family, passed away on April 15, 2025, in Beloit, Ohio, at the age of 75. Born on November 5, 1949, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, John lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by both personal accomplishments and a commitment to his community.

For over 30 years, John worked at B & W Tube, while also serving as a part-time police officer in Knox Township. He was a self-employed mechanic, a testament to his skills and dedication to his craft. His military service in the US Army, where he served as a tank operator and mechanic during the Vietnam War, was a source of pride for him and exemplified his commitment to his country.

John had many interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He was known for his love of drag racing and had a particular knack for working on carburetors. His pride in maintaining a beautiful lawn was evident, and he found great happiness in spending time with family, especially during outings for meals together.

He is survived by his son Johnny (Laura) Bower; granddaughter Lindsay Bower; and three great-grandchildren, Ezra, Lydia, and Robert. John's life was also enriched by his siblings: Shirley Proffitt, Cindy (Bob) Knight, Larry (Gertrude) Bower, Sandra Benner, and Barbara Carlson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Berenice (Keiter) Bower; his son Ricky L. Bower; and siblings Joe Siddall and Virginia Sutton, along with his brother-in-law John Benner as well as his dog Zoey.

A viewing will be held on April 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home located at 126 W Vermont Ave, Sebring, Ohio. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM with Pastor Niel Orchard officiating, Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio.
