John Calderone Jr

John S. Calderone Jr., 93 of Sebring, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Crandall Medical Center. John was born in Sebring on September 14, 1917 the son of the late John S. and Mary (Demma) Calderone Sr.; he was a 1937 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School and was a WWII Army veteran serving in the 79th Division where he was the recipient of the Cross of Lorraine. Mr. Calderone enjoyed keeping busy and especially working he was employed at the former Calderone Market, Quaker City IGA, Diamond Beverage and Zep’s Drive Thru; he was also a member of the Sebring American Legion. Survivors include his son Mark S. (Candee) Calderone of Sebring, his grandchildren; Ashley (Zachary VanHorn) Calderone, Jonathon Calderone, Jennifer Gillis, 2 great grandchildren Antonio and Zalina and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia “Ginny” (Vitalari) Calderone on May 28, 1996, two sons Timothy Calderone on July 19, 1961, Charles “Chuckie” Calderone on May 20, 1967, two brothers Anthony and Joseph and five sisters; Josephine Maley, Rose Calderone, Ann Papadeniose, Mary Brienza and an infant sister Josephine Calderone. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Sebring with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Friends may call at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 PM. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Crandall Medical Center and Hospice of the Valley for all their kindness and attention. Memorial contributions can be made in John’s honor to Boy’s Town, St. Ann’s Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home in Sebring.
