John Fahnert

OBITUARY John W. K. Fahnert John W. K. Fahnert of Sebring passed away February 10, 2013 at Crandall Medical Center. John was born on August 24, 1922 in Sebring, Ohio, son of the late Curtis E. Fahnert and Matilda (Key) Fahnert. A Sebring McKinley High School graduate, John attended Mount Union College and served in Europe during World War II. John was employed as a sales engineer by Morgan Engineering, retiring in 1987 after nearly 50 years of service. A former mayor of Sebring, John also served as a long time member of council, chairperson of the Charter Commission and chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee. He was honored as a Sebring High School Distinguished Alumnus in 1995 and was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was instrumental in construction of the new church in 1970. Survivors include wife Jeanne (Applegate) Fahnert, son John (Beth) Fahnert of Hermitage Pennsylvania, daughter Beth (Jerry) Seavy of Sebring, and daughter Janis (Mark) Ritter of St. Paul Minnesota. He is also survived by grandchildren Megan (Scott) McLaughlin, Katie Seavy, Jakie Prizant, and Justin Prizant, two great grandchildren, Emma McLaughlin and Vance Prizant, and brothers Gene (Jean) Fahnert of Rocky River and Curt (Harriett) Fahnert of North Benton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Alice Jean (Watson) Fahnert, son William Owen Fahnert, sister Elinor Baker and brother Ed Fahnert. Family and friends will be received on Thursday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 15, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebring where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Sebring High School Alumni Association.
