John Martin

On October 1, 2010 John S. Martin, 81, of Sebring, Ohio peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior. John was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 25, 1929 the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Miskelley) Martin; John married his wife Arlene J. Martin of the Bronx, NY on September 9, 1950; he was a woodworker for Chase Manhattan Bank of New York at the time. Together on Long Island they started to raise a family. The family moved to Vermont where he worked again as a milkman. In 1972 he moved his family to Niles, OH and then settling in Sebring in 1973. John had started a career as a teamster car hauler for Anchor Motor Freight in Lordstown, OH in May of 1971, he retired in 1994. John was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Arlene, his parents, sister Anna Long and a grandson Jacob Scott. He is survived by his children; John (Ann) Martin of Austintown, Linda Aquino of North Canton, Carol Bircher of Cleveland, Barbara (Mike) Scott of Beloit, Richard (Jacque) Martin of Vermillion, Jeanne (Marty) Ruegg of Green, Robert Martin of Sandusky, David (Pam) Martin of Sebring, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 5th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Reich and Rev. Boyd Elliott officiating. Friends and family will be received for calling hours on Monday, Oct 4th from 2pm – 8pm at the funeral home in Sebring with the family present from 6-8 PM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Friends may sign the guest book and send condolences online at www.grfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
