John Yothers

October 11, 1918 — December 17, 2009


John Baker Yothers, 91, Pittsboro, NC, formerly of Beloit, Sebring, and Alliance, OH went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2009. Mr. Yothers was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 66 years, Glenda Mae Yothers. He is survived by his five children, Mrs. Linda Kae Rubin (Ken), Racine, WI; Ms. Diane R. Baldwin, Pittsboro, NC; Mr. Stanley K. Yothers (Sue), Ormond Beach, FL; Ms. Kathy J. Stadler, Maryland; Ms. Jill A. Yothers, Ormond Beach, FL.; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Yothers served in the Army Air Force during WWII in the European Theater, landing on Omaha Beach. After the war Mr. Yothers worked for Taylorcraft Aircraft. Prior to their retirement in 1981, Mr. and Mrs. Yothers were employed for 25 years by the West Branch School District in Beloit. After retirement, they lived in Stone Mountain and Snellville, GA; Columbia, MD; and Lynchburg, VA. An avid bicyclist, Mr. Yothers rode 5-10 miles every day. While in his 80’s he completed five 400-500 mile week-long rides and numerous smaller rides. His most recent long-distance ride was in June 2009 when he rode the 260 mile Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi with his granddaughter and her husband, Holli and Bryan Relyea. Services will be held Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 am at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home. Viewing will be Sunday, December 20, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, OH. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E.
