Joseph Gaither

Joseph K. Gaither age 88 of Sebring, passed away on July 8, 2008 at Crandall Medical Center II in Sebring. He was born March 1, 1920 in Lawrenceburg TN, to Joseph and Dora (Reavis) Gaither. Joe was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Union College with a BS in Education. He taught 6th Grade at Sebring Local Schools and was a US Army veteran serving from 1943 to 1945 and was involved in the Normandy Landing. Joe was a Life Member of Sebring VFW Post 6730 serving as its Commander from 1988 to 2000 and 2001 to 2004, he also served as Mahoning County Commander and in the Sebring Post Color Guard. Joe also enjoyed golf, bowling and watching sports on television. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Iona Stanley Gaither on June 11, 2001. Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Chapel at Highland Memorial Park with Terry Kirsch officiating. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
