Kathy Jo Martig, 62 of Berlin Center, a lifelong area resident passed away at her home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 with her family by her side. Kathy was born in Alliance on March 17, 1951, the daughter of the late Lewis and Thelma (Hull) Bandy. She was a graduate of Western Reserve Schools and Youngstown State University, she taught at Western Reserve Schools for over 28 years primarily the fourth grade. Mrs. Martig was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, and volunteered at Angels for Animals. Kathy was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by many of her friends. Survivors include her husband of 40 years Douglas J. Martig whom she married on December 16, 1972 of Berlin Center, a son Michael (Nicole) Martig of Raymond, OH and their children Josh and Nicholas, a daughter Jackie (Jason) Lesh of Colorado Springs, CO and their children Samantha, Connor and one on the way, a daughter Kelly (James) Bailey of Hudson, OH and their daughter Emma. She is also survived by a brother Lew (Sandra) Bandy of Augusta, GA and a sister Diane (Ed) Cross of Springfield, OH. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Rich Thewlis. Friends may call from 6-9 PM on Monday April 29, 2013 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
