Leah Martha Tamati of Salem, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord at 7:30 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 following an extended illness. She was 64. Martha was born in Ravenna, Ohio on June 7, 1946, a daughter to Abraham and Edith (Burkholder) Goldman. A 1964 graduate of James A. Garfield High School, Garrettsville, Ohio, she first worked for Ny Mold Industries, Garrettsville. Later, she became a personal caregiver working for Marquest Nursing Home, Ravenna, and also for the Hattie Lartham Foundation for Disabled Children, Mantua, Ohio. Martha continued to be a personal caregiver for private individuals for the remainder of her working career. She was a member of the Southeast Friends Church, Salem, Ohio, and had been a former Sunday School Teacher while attending the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Windham, Ohio. She loved the Lord our God with all her heart. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with the âGad Aboutâ Bus Tours. Survivors include: her husband, Dean Tamati, whom she married October 16, 1987; her sisters, Bessie âBessâ Bennett, Globe, AZ, Frieda Goldman, Windham, OH, & Ruth Bryan & her husband Tom, Broken Arrow, OK; and her close friends, Dan & Kathy Leguard, Salem, OH & their children, Tom & Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, Louis Goldman; and by her brother-in-law, Fred Bennett. In accordance to her wishes, no calling hours or services will be held. Her family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Southeast Friends Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Salem, Ohio.
