Lester W. Fike, devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010 after a brief illness. Lester was born on January 3, 1923 in Humbert , PA to Lowry Washington Fike and Amanda Jane Matheney. He was one of six children (William, Maude, Ethel, Iretha, and Pearl), all who have preceded him in death. Lester was a WWII Veteran who served three years active duty as a heavy ammunition truck driver with Patton’s 3rd Army Air Force Division in the European Theater. He was employed as a Ranger/Maintenance worker with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Youghiogheny Reservoir in Confluence, PA before being transferred to Berlin Reservoir in Deerfield , OH in 1965. In 1966, Lester began employment with the General Motors Assembly Division Plant in Lordstown , OH as an assembler and welder. He retired from General Motors in January 1990. Lester is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gertrude A. (Sliger) and four children, Mary J. (Dennis) Keene of Sebring, Barbara A. (Fike) Mullen of Alliance, George W. (Lori) Fike of Canton, and Jennifer A. Fike of Ravenna. He was preceded in death by his son Roy L. Fike (2004) and infant daughter Emma J. Fike (1951). Lester was also the adoring grandfather of Denise (Paul) Speigle of Salem, Tracy (John) Littell of Sebring, Pamela (Dave) Lambert of Alliance, Jason Keene of Sebring, Alverta Mullen of Alliance; great grandfather of Amanda Speigle, Trevor Speigle, Mason Lambert, Issac Keene, Shiloh Littell, Autumn Littell, Tripp Littell and Malachi Anderson. Funeral services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19 at 1:00pm with Cecil Inman officiating. Friends and family will be received for calling hours on Wednesday, August 18 from 6pm – 8pm at the funeral home in Sebring. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
