"Together Again" Lilian (Dawson) Ellis, age 88, of Alliance went to be with the Lord and her many loved ones on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was born on October 3, 1923 to James and Annie (Cook) Dawson. Lilian was a graduate and a class officer of Alliance High School in 1943. She married George A. Ellis Sr. on September 19, 1943. In 1965 she attended the Alliance Beauty College; Lilian owned and operated Lilian’s beauty Shop out of her home for several years. She was a member of the Sebring United Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and choir member. She was active as a scout leader along with her husband for many years as well as the Maple Ridge PTA. Her past-times included sewing, gardening, bowling and golfing on the Westville Women’s League, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family and friends. As the oldest daughter in a family of eleven, Lillian had a lot of responsibility in the care of her siblings. Family was a very important part of her life. She is survived by her children George (Maureen) Ellis, of Fort Mill, SC, David (Karen) Ellis of Wilmington, NC and Linda (Scott) Bates of Salem. Grandchildren include Kristin (Gary) Tisdale of Massillon, Jim (Dawn) Ellis of Wilmington, NC, Rebecca Ellis of New York City, NY, Michael Ellis of Alliance, Craig (Emily) Bates of Homewood, IL, Karie (Paul) Gessner of Sandusky, Eric Bates of Salem. Great grandsons Hyatt Ellis of Wilmington NC and Mason Gessner of Sandusky. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth (Gene) Reda and Patricia (Steve) Kocisi, her brothers include Jack (Julia) Dawson and Leonard (Linda) Dawson. Sister-in-laws Kate Dawson, Irene Dawson, June (Geroge) Nixon and Florence McCausland and a Brother-in-law Herbert Welch. Lilian is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband George, a son Gregory, a sister AnnaBelle Welch, brothers Ronald, James, Gilbert, Joshua and Thomas; sister-in-law Kate Dawson, Mable Dawson and Joanne Dawson and a brother-in-law James McCausland . The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Catharine Tabb and to all the employees at McCrea over the past 11 years. Each gave her such loving care and treated her as family. A Funeral service will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00AM with Chaplain Dan Tayman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, December 26th from 6-8PM. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park in Alliance. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home in Sebring.
