Linda Clementson

Linda (Marshall) Clementson 58, of Salem died January 7th at Sterling House of Salem. She had been a resident there for nine years. Linda was born Nov. 9, 1949 in Barberton, Ohio the daughter of James E. and Joan Marshall. She graduated from Barberton High School in 1967 and was a 1971 graduate of Kent State University with a BS in Biology. She worked at Yoder Brothers in Barberton as a lab researcher, at the Michigan Travel Bureau, and Higbees Department store in the interior design department. She married David Clementson in 1971. In 1980, Dave a captain for USAIR, Linda and their daughter Katherine moved to Salem where they enjoyed renovating their South Lincoln Avenue home. Linda loved Salem and became active in the community through the Welcome Wagon, Salem Garden Club and downtown renovation programs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Salem and served as a Deacon. Linda is survived by; her mother Joan Marshall, husband David and daughter Katherine (Charles) Oesch, 3 grandchildren; David, Donnie, and Derek all of Salem. Also, brother James P. Marshall of Barberton, sisters Grace (Mark) Smith of Salem and Dottie (Steve) Mattioli of Springfield, IL, a special Aunt Dorothy Withem of Jacksonville, Ohio and 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father James E. Marshall and a infant brother Jeffrey. Linda will be remembered for many things, but especially for her strong will to overcome the many obstacles she endured with her illness, her love for Dave and Katherine, and her sense of style in decorating and fashion. The family would also like to thank Penny Lippiatt and Julie Kerr and the entire staff of Sterling House for providing loving care for Linda over these many years. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 12th friends may call from 1-3PM at Brown Funeral Home, 510 Jennings Ave. Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Linda’s honor to: Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashley Circle Suite E, Austintown, OH 44514.
