Lois Marie Dickey

July 11, 1931 — June 2, 2018

SALEM – Lois Marie Dickey of Salem, formerly of Signal, passed away June 2 at University Hospital Cleveland from an intracranial hemorrhage. She was 86.

Lois was born July 11, 1931, in Elkton, Ohio, the daughter of Anna (Armstrong) and Erwin Kampfer, but was raised by her grandparents, William and Kitty Armstrong. She graduated from Lisbon David Anderson High School and was a lifelong resident of Elkton and surrounding areas.

On January 5, 1951, she married Charles Dickey, who survives her.

She was an operator for The Ohio Bell Telephone Company and later worked at Haldi’s and Lustig’s shoe stores, both in Salem, for a number of years. She also served as an election poll worker and precinct judge in Columbiana County.

She was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church and its 4 C’s, Signal Civic Club, Lisbon Music Study Club and sang with the Lisbon Community Choir. She had also been a 4-H adviser, seamstress and was known for her delicious apple pies.

She leaves three children, Marcia (Marvin) Carroll of Lisbon; Brenda Myers of Salem; and Charles Brian (Janet) Dickey of Ellicott City, Md. She leaves 10 grandchildren, Eric and Jennifer Carroll of Lisbon and Matthew (Sarah) Carroll of Salem; Nathan (Patty), Jared and Olivia Myers of Beloit; Andrea (Dan) Zippay of North Benton, and Clayton (Megan) Myers of Berlin Center; and Elizabeth and Erica Dickey of Ellicott City, Md. She also leaves 9 great-grandchildren, Stella, Everett and Neva Zippay; Abigail, Caleb and Colton Myers; Lylah Myers; and Greyson and Easton Carroll. She is survived by one sister, Cora (John) Oana of Salem, and one sister-in-law, Janet Kampfer of Sheffield Lake. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Paul and Joseph Kampfer.
