Marcine Margaret Schmid

Marcine Margaret Schmid , 86, of Alliance passed away on September 20, 2015 at her home. Marcine was born on August 10, 1929 in Alliance, the daughter of the late Alfred E. & Anna Laura (Zurbrugg) Krahling. She wasa 1947 graduate of Sebring Mckinley High School and worked at Alliance Community Hospital as the Pediatric Ward Secretary until her retirement in 1993.  Mrs. Schmid was a member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ, she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Alliance Exchangettes, and was a member of the Sebring Garden Club. Marcine enjoyed reading, all college sports, puzzle books, church and most of all her family.

Marcine is survived by a son Douglas (Melody) Schmid of Sebring, and a daughter Cathy (Greg) Shafer of Savanah, GA. She is also survived by three sisters, Esther Coy of Salem, Ruth Ann Dalessandro of Hillard , Carol Hickman of Salem; three grandchildren Kelley Schmid of Columbus, Ryan Schmid of Medina and Gregory(Nikki) Shafer of Warner Robins, GA. and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters Kathryn Ball, Edna Beckett, Mary Louise Houston, Evelyn Schmid; three brothers Donald, Alfred and John Krahling.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Neal Mann officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marcine’s honor to the First Immanuel United Church of Christ, 208 East Oxford St., Alliance, Ohio.
