Marie L. Bowman 88, of Alliance and formerly of North Benton died Saturday morning March 28, 2009 at Roselawn Terrace in Alliance. Marie was born in Salem on August 4, 1920 the daughter of the late Perry F. and Eunice May (McMahan) Toot. She attended Alliance High School, worked at Taylor Craft during WWII as a “Rosie the Riveter” and later at the North Benton Post office retiring in 1967. She was a member of the North Benton Presbyterian Church, the Alma Chapter #296 Eastern Star in Sebring, the Alliance Carnation retirees club, the Deerfield Leisure Lads and Lassies and the Alliance Senior Center. Mrs. Bowman is survived by her brother Chester A. (Retty) Toot of Salem, a niece Sandra and a nephew Mark and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded by her husband Elmo Bowman on Sept. 6, 2003 after 64 years of marriage, and a brother Francis Toot. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 with Rev. James Henkle officiating at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, visitation will be for the hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Marlboro Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Marie’s honor to the American Diabetes Foundation.
