Marjorie Whitacre

Marjorie J. Whitacre, age 84, formerly of Sebring, passed away on Sunday Jan. 11, 2009 at Roselawn Terrace. She was born in Alliance on November 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Calvin and Hilda (Beckett) Shinn. Marjorie was a member of the Sebring United Methodist Church. She was a bookkeeper-Secretary for Ridgerock Industries in Sebring; she was a former employee of Limoges Co. and Taylor Craft. She volunteered at the Alliance Hospital for13 years, and was active in the Sebring VFW Auxiliary # 6730. Marjorie liked watching sports and spending time with her family especially her grand and great grandchildren. Mrs. Whitacre is survived by her daughter Suzanne (George) Thompson of Alliance; two sons William C. (Stacey) Whitacre Jr. of Murrells Inlet, S. C. and Michael W. (Lori) Whitacre of Myrtle Beach, S. C. one brother William Shinn of Texas; eight grandchildren Shannon, Shane, & Shad Berger; Jennifer (Matt) Anderson; Angela (Kevin) Mason , William (Denee) Whitacre III, and Michelle and Danielle Whitacre and 12 great grandchildren, Logan, Alexus, Kelsey, Kaley, Jordan, Katie, Jacob, Kylie, Chase, Gracie, Keira and Payton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William C. Whitacre Sr., whom she married March 20, 1944, and died on Sept. 20, 2003. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Jan. 13th, at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. George Schreckengost officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from noon till the time of service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
