Martha Jane Jewell, 88 of Salem passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Salem Community Hospital; she was born on April 24, 1924 the daughter of the late Lew and Marie (Hall) Clark. Martha was a graduate of Salineville High School, the valedictorian of her class, and worked as the Head Cook at Southern Local Schools, the County Home, Century House and the Salem Convalescent Center. She enjoyed sewing especially Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls, as well as working with ceramics and spending time with her family. Survivors include her three sons; Mike (Barbara) Jewell of Guilford Lake, John (Deb) Jewell of Hanoverton and Jeff Jewell of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, 8 grandchildren: Michelle Drane, Mark Jewell, Keith Jewell, Scott Jewell, Cindy White, Cara Sanor, Vic Jewell, Jessica Fox and 15 great grandchildren: Jaden, Kenny, Griffin, Maria, Gabbie, Zachary, Bethany, Dallas, Luke, Joe, Max, Bre, Lauren, Alison and Doug. She is also survived by a sister Carrie Hoffman of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a brother Bill (Pat) Clark of Kensington. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Jackie Shasteen, 3 brothers; Dwight, Ellsworth and Bob Clark, 3 sisters; Alice Jackman, Louise Morckel, Dorothy Close and an infant sister Clark. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Savage of the Winona Friends Church officiating. Visitation will be held the two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
