Mary Martha Collen, age 81, of Parma Heights passed away at 5:34 PM Saturday Aug. 4, 2007, at Parma General Hospital. She was born in Alliance, Ohio on November 1, 1925, to the late James and Esther (Wuthrick) Collen. Ms. Collen was a member of Sebring Presbyterian Church, a 1943 graduate of Alliance High School and a graduate of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 1948. From 1949 to 1951 she worked in the Alliance School system as a School Nurse and received her Certificate of Public Health Care from Case Western University in 1959. She was a Registered Nurse working for Cleveland Public Schools and in 1994 she was recognized by the City of Cleveland for 43 years of service to the school system, she was also affiliated with the Cleveland Eye Clinic, served 20 years as the Chair of the Hospitality Committee for School Nurses in Cleveland and as Chair and Secretary of the Cleveland Teachers Union. Martha loved to travel, especially in Europe and Ireland. She leaves behind her a brother David (Ruth) Collen of Trade, Tennessee, 10 nieces and nephews, several great and great great nieces and nephews, many cousins and great cousins and her honorary grandchildren Dylan and Amber Cochrac and their parents Nick and Lisa. Ms. Collen was preceded in death by her; parents a brother Robert (Virginia) Collen in 2000 and a nephew Robert. Services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Christine G. Ziem officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
