Mary Stahl

Mary E. Stahl, 84, of North Benton died at 7:05 PM Wednesday at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio. Mary was born on January 20, 1925 to Victor and Emma (Drasler) Drobnic in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. She grew up in Cleveland where she graduated from East High School in 1943. Mary enjoyed music and played many different sports in her youth and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. She furthered her education at Ohio University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1951. It was there that she met John Stahl and they were married on August 25, 1951. Together they owned and operated Stahl’s Orchard in North Benton for close to 50 years. Mary, along with her husband, was a member of the Salem Fruit Growers Association in Greenford, Ohio. She was active in PTA, having raised five children. She also made many life-long friends at St Ann Catholic Church in Sebring where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Anne (Dan) Anguish of North Jackson, four sons; Charlie (Martha) and Andy (Angel) both of North Benton, Phil (Gay) and Mike (Judy) both of Alliance, and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jim and Frank of Cleveland, along with her husband, John and one granddaughter, Amber. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Ann Catholic Church at 10AM with Father Thomas P. Dyer officiating. Friends may call at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Friday, November 20th from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ann Altar and Rosary Society, 323 South 15th Street, Sebring, Ohio 44672.
