Mary Jane Sutcliffe, 80, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was born in North Benton and lived her entire life in Deerfield and North Benton with many happy summers at her Lake Mohawk summer home. Mary Jane was active in many family and community events; a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church, American Legion # 713 Auxiliary, Sironettes women’s Auxiliary for Deerfield Fire Dept., Deerfield Civic organization and the Deerfield Historical Society. For many years she wrote the Deerfield news for the Alliance Review and the Ravenna Record Courier. She was a graduate of Deerfield High School. Mary Jane is survived by her daughter Dorothy Mae; her sons Robert A. (Dottie); William (Claudia); James (Pam) and Vaughn Sutcliffe; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister in law Mary Alice Amos and many relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen D. (Whinery) Miller and her husband Robert H Sutcliffe whom she married on 7-1-1948 and who passed away on 1-7-1992. Mary Jane will be missed by many as she was always helping others. Calling hours will be Saturday April 11th from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Sebring, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 13th at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Biggs officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hartzell Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mary Jane’s honor to the Deerfield United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
