Mattie Fletcher

"Together Again" Mattie Zoe (Lay) Fletcher, of Louisville and formerly of Beloit passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Green Meadows Care Center in Louisville. Mattie was born in Hazard, KY on January 2, 1925 the daughter of the late Lloyd L. and Mary Ann (Hammers) Lay. Mattie was a member of the Beloit Friends Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years, she enjoyed sewing, reading and crafts. Mrs. Fletcher was s 1945 graduate of Jellico High School in TN and also attended Tennessee Wesleyan College. Survivors include her son Larry (Theresa) Fletcher of Alliance, a daughter Anna Ruth (Leonard) Mapes of Alliance, a daughter Carol (Tim) Lowe of Williamsburg, KY, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Julia Taylor of Salem, OH and Lois Brewer Martin of Fayetteville, WV. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years LB Fletcher who passed in January of 2011. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Beloit Friends Church at 11:30AM. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 to 11:30 AM. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park.
