Phillip “Phil” Lomar Blevins, 59, of Alliance passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care. Phil was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on January 28, 1955, the son of the late Orville and Elsie (Stevens) Blevins. He was a 1973 graduate of West Branch High School was employed at B&W Tubular for 30 years. Phil attended Mt. Tabor Church in East Canton, loved hunting, fishing, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed long walks on the beach and looking for shark’s teeth in Myrtle Beach. The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Schmotzer and staff, 6th floor oncology, 3rd floor infusion, Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center and especially Carla.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Paulette (Bair) whom he married on April 13, 1974; a daughter Nancy (Randolph) Branch of Alliance; two grandchildren Morgan and Randy Branch and one due in June. Phil is also survived by three brothers Earl (Betty Jo) of Alliance, John (Amber) of Sebring, Ron (Kathee) of Alliance; three sisters Ellen Blevins of Sebring, Teddy Oney of New Castle, Indiana, Jewel (Ervin) Oney of Newbern, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers Bill and David and an infant brother Orville Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Monteith officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday November 18, 2014 and the hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Phil’s honor to Compassionate Care Center 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
