Phyllis L. Beyers, 65 of Alliance died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 following an extended illness. Phyllis was a 1963 graduate of West Branch High School and attended Kent State and received her degree from Malone College. Mrs. Beyers worked for the Columbiana County Engineer Department, also the Rural Opportunities Office in Alliance as a Housing Developer; she also worked for Mayor Toni Middleton and the City of Alliance retiring in 2003. Phyllis was very involved in her community; she was a board member of SARTA, enjoyed NASCAR, an avid Steelers fan, gardening and traveling and playing Trivial Pursuit but she most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her mother Hazel (Roberts) Russell of Beloit, three sisters; Cheryl (John) Kinser of Minerva, Karen (Ernie) Raber of Clyde, Glenna (David Voelz) Russell of North Canton, a brother Rick (Lynda) Russell of Damascus, a daughter Tammy Thomas of Alliance, a son Mike (Marie) Hoffaker of Salem, a grandson Cody Hoffaker of Damascus, 2 granddaughters; Angeline and Desiree, numerous nieces, nephews and her ex husband Mickey Hoffaker of Alliance. She was preceded in death by her father Howard Russell in 1979, an ex husband Bob Beyers in 2003, and a grandson Devin Thomas in 1994. Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 PM and the hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
