Ray Drennen

Ray Drennen, age 72, of Sebring, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. He was born in Zela, West Virginia on October 28, 1935, the son of the late Charles William and Edna (Stephenson) Drennen. Ray was a graduate of Nicholas County High School class of 1953. His family moved to Sebring in 1954. Ray was a respected area businessman owning and operating Drennen’s Beloit Auto Sales, he retired from Transue and Williams in 1984 and was an avid Nascar fan, he especially enjoyed spending his time with his family. Mr. Drennen is survived by his wife Margaret (Rice) Drennen whom he married October 7, 1954, three sons; Chuck (Yvonne) Drennen of Wilmot, OH, Jeff (Stacey) Drennen, and Wayne (Cheryl) Drennen both Zanesville, two daughters; Cathy McCullough of Alliance, Marla Drennen of the home, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters; Ruth Lovelace of Atlanta, GA and Phyllis Blend of Homosassa, FL two step-sisters Wanda Montgomery of Canton, Mary Baker, and a step-brother Bill Baker both of Summersville, WV. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Lela Drennen and step-father Arnett Baker he was also preceded by his mother-in-law Mary Stephenson. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2008 with Rev. James White officiating at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 2 PM to 8 PM, with the family present from 6 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in Ray’s Memory to Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice:885 N Sawburg Ave Alliance, OH 44601 or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Friends may view the obituary and sign the guest register on line at www.grfuneralhome.com.
