Raymond Lauener

September 22, 1929 — December 27, 2011

Raymond L. Lauener went to his Heavenly Father on December 27, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 22, 1929 to the late Ernest Lauener and Rose Courtney Swindell. He attended Alliance High School, and later proudly earned his GED in 1965. Ray served our country as a Navy Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1950. He retired in 1982 after 31 years with Ohio Bell Telephone Co. as a construction supervisor. He bowled in many leagues and played softball in his earlier years, often with his numerous brothers-in-law. He was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Club for many years. Ray and his wife Donna traveled to Europe and across the states during their retirement years. Ray’s passion in life wasn’t just working hard, but helping others too. He volunteered with the Salvation Army for over 50 years and drove many friends and relatives to doctor appointments, hospital visits, and therapy. In past years he attended Science Hill Community Church, Cornerstone Christian Church, and most recently attended services at the Salvation Army. Ray married Donna J. (Miller) Lauener, the love of his life, 61 years ago on July 29, 1950. He was the best Dad to sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Denise Lauener, and Randy and Cyndi Lauener. Proud grandpa to Brooke (Heath) Morgan, Hilary (Jonas) Wertin, Kelly (Mike) Doty, and Tye (fiancé, Lindsay Thomas) Launer. Great grandpa to Kylie Anne, Hadleigh Brooke, Jacob Neal, and Fynn Dawn. Also surviving are his brothers, Donald Lauener (Teresa Nezbeth) and Jay Swindell, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Paumier, Dorothy Santucci and two infant sisters. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Pastor Ed Harnish of the Marlboro Christian Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home the hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 57 West Main Street, Alliance, OH 44601.
