Raymond Spencer

Raymond Spencer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on November 20, 2024 at the age of 78 in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on November 7, 1946, in Salem, Ohio, Raymond lived a life full of passion, love, and dedication to his family and community. Raymond was a proud graduate of West Branch Local Schools and furthered his education at The Ohio State ATI in Wooster. His commitment to lifelong learning and growth remained a guiding principle in his life.

Throughout his years, Raymond passionately pursued his hobbies, which included fishing and hunting. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his dedication to his church, where he was very active, exemplifying his deep faith and commitment to service. He was also a former member of the Knox Ruritan Club, engaging actively in his community. Family was the cornerstone of Raymond's life. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, Ruth (Nelson) Spencer, whom he married on May 19, 1967. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter, support, and countless cherished memories.

Raymond leaves behind his sons, Timothy W. Spencer and Charles "Chuck" (Kristen) Spencer, and daughter Deanna (Brian) Riesen. He took great joy in being a grandfather to his ten grandchildren: Timothy, Trina, Tyler, Abby (Brandon), Caitlyn, Hunter, William, Amber, Kelsey, and Carley. Additionally, he was a proud great-grandfather to twelve great-grandchildren. The time he spent attending events involving his grandchildren was a source of immense happiness for him. In addition to his immediate family, Raymond is survived by his brother Robert "Bob" (Brenda) Spencer, sisters Debbie Spencer and Beckie Dean, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Waneda (Carpenter) Spencer, and his brother Milton Spencer.

A memorial service to celebrate Raymond's life will be held on December 7, 2024, at 1:30 PM at the North Georgetown First Church of the Brethren in North Georgetown, Ohio. A time of fellowship will be held the half-hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his honor North Georgetown First Church of the Brethren, 27333 Main St. North Georgetown, OH 44665.
