It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Remington Lee Jones of Smith Township, OH. He died by suicide on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Remi as he is better known, is survived by his loving parents Philip Jones, Rachel (Tucker) Jones and sister Victoria Jones as well as countless grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Remington, born on May 8, 2009 in Alliance OH will be remembered for his adventurous, kind, fun-loving personality. Out-going and with an open heart, Remi was sure to be a part of everything and lived life to the fullest! He had a varied set of interests from sports, to theater, to leadership opportunities, and excelled at them all.
As a West Branch Warrior, he represented his school well in baseball, basketball, wrestling, football, soccer, and track & field. He also participated in numerous plays and musicals as part of the theater department for years. In 2023 he was selected for Young & Alive! And won an award for Outstanding Warrior Explosion member as part of the West Branch Show Choir.
Outside of school he was a long-time member of 4-H. He was honored to win a wide range of awards for his many animal projects and was selected for several leadership opportunities. He was also a member of the local Cub Scouts and performed in multiple programs at the Salem Community Theatre.
Yearly, he was glad to join his cousin Dakoda as they ran in short fun runs for charity regularly placing near the top. Then, when they moved up to the 5K, Remi placed first in his bracket!
And, when not busy helping in one of those many organizations, he could be found hunting with his dad, clothes shopping with his mom or spending time with his biggest fan - his sister, Victoria.
If, there was any free time left, he could be found playing a favorite video game of MineCraft, or Madden or cheering on the Cleveland Browns as a die hard fan.
In all that he did, he was sure to be thoughtful, and looked for ways to help others. Methodical and a planner by nature he was already planning to become an accountant one day. Then, he would help others with their taxes.
This bright star shed his light upon so many all through the years and will be greatly missed!
