Rev. Fay A. Botten

Rev. Fay A. Botten, 83 of Sebring passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016.  Fay was born in Akron, Ohio on January 4, 1933 the daughter of the late Charles K. and Gladys (Green) Botten.  She was a graduate of Shaw High School, Class of 1950; Asbury College in 1954; obtained her master’s degree at Western Reserve University in 1955 and her Master of Divinity at Methodist Theological School of Ohio in Delaware, Ohio in 1979.  Before entering the full-time ministry, she taught at Canton South High School in Canton, Rocky River Junior and Senior High Schools, Apopka High School in Apopka, Florida and Woodbury Junior High School in Shaker Heights.  She served as pastor of the following United Methodist Churches:  Nevada and Eden Chapel in Nevada, Ohio, Church at the Lake in Chippewa Lake, Columbia Station, and Sterling.  Since her retirement in 1999, she has lived at the Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, Ohio.

Survivors include her brother Dr. Donald L. Botten of Sebring, and niece Janice Miller of Colorado, and 2 great nieces; Lorena Mills and Megan Palmiotti.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew Rev. Bruce Botten.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 3:00PM at Bennett Chapel, Copeland Oaks.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks, 800 S. 15th Street, Sebring, Ohio 44672. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery.
