Rhea "Betty" (Dixon) Johnson

August 4, 1920 — June 17, 2016

Rhea E. “Betty” Johnson, 95 of Alliance passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Alliance Community Hospital.  Betty was born in Beloit on August 4, 1920, the daughter of the late William and Leah (Stanley) Dixon. A lifelong area resident, she was a member of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church and attended Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene in Lakeland Florida.  She was a snowbird, enjoying winters in Lakeland Florida from 1971-2010. Betty was a world traveler and enjoyed watching basketball.  She was a member of United Commercial Travelers  and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her children; Thomas A. “TJ” Johnson of Alliance, Barbara Brunt of Green, Karen (Alan Sr.) Reese-Twaddle of Alliance, Donald R. Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond G. Johnson whom she married on October 3, 1941 and who passed away on March 1, 2006 and a sister Kathleen (Mrs. Karl) Reed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 24, 2016 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating.  Friends may call from 9-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Damascus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to Alliance Evangelical Friends Church; 1307 W. State St. Alliance, OH 44601.
