Richard W. Apple, 88, of Beloit passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital. Richard was born on August 26, 1924, in Salem, Ohio the son of the late Warren Joseph and Anna Marie (Munsell) Apple. He served in the US Army from 1943-1946 during WWII. He returned home on January 22nd where he met the love of his life Erma R. Yoders from Wind Ridge Pennsylvania, they were married for 66 years on Nov. 23, 2012. He worked as a foreman for 34 years for Electric Furnace Company in Salem, retiring in 1984 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Salem. Survivors include his wife Erma R. (Yoders) Apple of Beloit, five children; Carolyn Sue (Richard) Flowers of Beloit, David (Miriam) Apple of Pittsboro, NC, Edward Apple of Beloit, Richard W. Apple II of Beloit, and Amy Lynne (Mike) Ramser of Alliance. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Knight, Mary Bauman, Shirley Toole and Nellie May Hutter. A funeral service will be held on June 3, 2013 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roger Dulaney officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home the hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Damascus Cemetery. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
