Richard W. Courtney, 85 of Alliance, passed away at Alliance Community Hospital on January 1, 2011 surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Alliance on April 30 1925 the son of the late Ralph H. and Hazel Marie (Hoff) Courtney. Mr. Courtney enjoyed working, he was the owner/operator of Courtney Sales and Service and was a farmer in Ohio and Pennsylvania, he was a 50 year member of Mile Branch Grange, and he was also a Past Master for both Mile Branch and Smith Grange. Survivors include his wife Inez Jean (Fish) whom he married April 18, 1997, two daughters; Janet (Burdell) Waffler of North Ridgeville, Treva (Edward) Moser of Lakeland, FL, three sons; Donald (Kathy) Courtney of Beloit, Gary (Pam) Courtney of Butler. PA, Roger (Rhonda) Courtney of Greenville, PA, three step sons; Mike (Debby) Fish, Jeff (Cindy) Fish, Tim (Connie) Burley, a step daughter Krystal (Tom) Camp. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Vera (Jewell) on August 26, 1996, his brother Gene Courtney on July 19, 2010 and an infant brother Loren. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Peters officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8PM and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
