Robert Carlisle

Robert F. Carlisle, 86, of Cambridge, formerly of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical. Robert was born on September 19, 1925 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Fred and Margaret (Smith) Carlisle. He was retired from American Steel Foundry in Alliance, where he was a crane operator for 17 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Carlisle was a member of the First Church of God, where many of his family attended and set roots for him. He loved gospel and country music and he played guitar and sang for many years with numerous musicians throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. Robert loved his family so much and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He especially loved watching his great-grandchildren at play and in their many sporting events and was their biggest fan. He was dearly loved and will be missed by them all. Survivors include his daughters, Virginia (Richard) Ammon of Butler, Pennsylvania, Deborah (Charles) Weekley of Norwich, Ohio; son, Mark A. Carlisle of Alliance; adopted son Edward W. Carlisle of Cambridge, Ohio and two step-sons, Sherman (Mitsue) Brick of Alliance and Raymond (Joanne) Brick of Ayden, North Carolina; 13 Grandchildren and 23Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth J. Carlisle, son, Robert F. Carlisle Jr., sister June Youmans of Sebring, brother Edward Carlisle and nephew Fred Carlisle, both of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Pastor Larry Murphy officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
