Robert E. Fletcher, 86 of Alliance, passed away on August 4, 2013 at Altercare of Alliance. He was born on June 14, 1927 in Richford, Vermont, the son of the late Horace F. and Mary H. (Bishop) Fletcher. A lifelong area resident, he attended the Alliance Baptist Temple, was a former Smith Township trustee, and former members of William Penn and the VFW. He worked as a truck driver for Kuntzman Trucking and for 20 years at 48 Insulation until his retirement in 1982. He also was a self employed excavator. Robert is survived by his wife Shirley (McNeal) Fletcher, whom he married in 2001, two sons, Frank (Christine) Fletcher and Larry (Laura) Fletcher all of Alliance; a daughter, Sheila (Tiziano) Variola of Alliance four step-daughters Violet Koonz of Alliance, Kathy LaNave of Sebring, Cindy Patton of Mt. Gilead, Tammy Brown of Mt. Gilead; six Grandchildren, Vanessa (Mike) Variola, Danielle Fletcher, Monica (Brian) Pierce, Frank (Tabitha) Fletcher, Tiffany King, Amber Fletcher; 8 Great Grandchildren; a brother Roger Fletcher of Florida; two sisters Shirley Pratt of Florida and Beverly (Alan) Hayford of Vermont. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Helen K. Fletcher, two sons Robert Fletcher Jr. and Mark Fletcher; five brothers Vern, Sheridan, Sherman, Adrian and Glen and a sister Charlotte Cole. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday August 7, 2013 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park.
