Robert Bob Nelson Hively, 84, of Sebring passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Salem Community Hospital. Bob was born in Salem on January 11, 1930, the son of the late William and Ethel (Hoopes) Hively, and served in the US Army during the Korean War. A lifelong area resident, Robert was a graduate of Salem High School and Kent State University. He worked as a tool and die maker for Gottschall Tool and Die. Bob was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Sebring VFW, Knights of Columbus, was a 35 year member of the chain gang for Sebring schools and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margaret L. (Boals) Hively of Sebring, whom he married on January 15, 1955; four sons, Rob (Chris) Hively of Beloit, Joseph Hively of Salem, Roger (Barb) Hively of Hempstead, North Carolina, Steve (Candy) Hively of North Benton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Larry Hively of Hanoverton. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Dean.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Bobs honor to Hope Lodge 11432 Mayfield Rd. Cleveland, OH 44106.
